Blogging about the Boy

It’s finally settled down enough around here for me to start blogging about the new addition.

First things first – a pic of the little monster:

Nights are going great. Nathan gets a bath, food, and song right before bed, which is usually around 7:30 – 8. The past few nights he’s been sleeping til about 1. He goes right back to sleep after a feeding, then wakes again around 3-4. Eats and wakes up for the morning around 7. What a good baby…he does still have his moments though.

Mrs. Handyman

I cleaned out a place to store all my bottle paraphernalia and noticed it was way low to the ground. So I went to Lowe’s and purchased a shelf drawer for all my goodies to be stored. Now, did I wait for Eric to get home to install it? Of course not. Even at 8 months pregnant I can not wait (and wait and wait) for the handyman of the house to get around to it. I got my fat belly in the floor and did it myself. The hardest part was actually taking out the big, heavy wood shelf and putting it back in. The actual installation was fast. There were holes made in wood and screws screwed in….yes, it was a REAL DIY project. (haha)

Without further rambling on and on about the installation, here’s the finished project:

^I put the white baskets in there to help with separating all the little bottle parts and what not.

Here it is stocked with said bottles:

^A place for everything and everything in it’s place. We’ll see how long it lasts!

It’s part of a sock

I’ve been working on my sock today. I got the heel turned and the decreases done on the instep. Blah blah blah…here it is!

It’s kinda a bad angle from the back. But you can kinda see the instep and heel right??? Just say yes!

Oh here’s another thing I did:

I dyed Nathan’s newborn diapers! They were SO boring…just white…blah! Now they are super cute. I used Dylon dye from Hobby Lobby. The colors are called turquoise and lime. I wish I had left the prefold diapers in the dye a little longer cuz they are lighter than I’d like. BUT the Sandy’s fitteds turned out almost perfect! Can’t wait to put them on my little pooper!

This sock rocks!

Here’s what I’ve been working on lately:

It’s the Monkey sock from knitty.com. I’m using Socks That Rock yarn (forgot the colorway).  You may remember this yarn from a sock project abandon long ago! I much prefer the direction this yarn is going now. This is also my first lace project. The pattern repeats are pretty simple. Hopefully I’ll have a sock by the end of the week! Maybe even 2 socks by the end of next month! haha

Knitting for Baby

So I’m combining three of my latest “obsessions” in my latest crafty adventure. I’m knitting (1) a wool diaper (2) cover for the baby (3). Ooooo it’s gonna be so cool. Here’s a progress pic:

Here’s a pic of the yellow bear modeling it, so you can get an idea about how it’s gonna fit on baby:

It’ll have Aplix (hook and loop) on the front panel and back wings…you know the familiar diaper format. So, this project will also let me use my new sewing machine too! Yay, one more crafty addition.

This knits up so fast! I am going to get some more wool this weekend and make another one in the next size up. I hope wool works for us!

Fluffy Mail

What the heck is fluffy mail you ask???

Eric and I have decided we’re going to try cloth diapering. So, here’s our first 3 diapers to build our cloth diaper stash.  They are Happy Heinys brand. From left to right: helicopter, planets, and cows. We should be getting our cotton prefolds in a few days!!!

Made some cards

Embroidery

Here’s my newest crafty undertaking:

^I embroidered this cat on a birdseye cloth diaper. I’m going to use it for burping the baby (not cloth diapering for heaven’s sake!)

These get finished really quickly, so it’s a great project for me since I like instant gratification.

I’m blogging again

K…Since I’m outta school for a few months and I know I’m going to be bored outta my mind waiting on baby Nathan to get here (just 10 weeks left), I’ve decided to revive my blog. I’ve changed the name from Stamping, Ink because I have a lot more I want to talk about other than just stamping. The new name is Just Junk. My last name is Junker and so I thought it fit (I’m tossing it around, but might rename it). Not many cool projects to show you just yet, but I will leave you with a pic from my baby shower last month:

Jennifer’s Helpful Holiday Shopping Tips

1. Don’t forget your list.
2. Yield to pedestrians.
3. Expect to wait in line.
4. Don’t forget your list.
5. Cookies=shopping fuel.
6. Use the bathroom before you get in line. (especially helpful for pregnant shoppers)
7. Time spent looking for a close parking spot is precious shopping time wasted.
8. Don’t forget that other list you made too.
9. Reindeer that poop candy are really not that funny. (get one for your brother anyway)
10. For heavens sake, keep the receipt!
11. Hide the real gift (Outback gift card) in the pooping reindeer box! (slap your knee while laughing at how funny this is going to be)
12. If all else fails, get a gift card. (probably go ahead and get the gift card anywayz)

Dude…it’s been forever!

Ok I know everyone reading my blog was in stitches wondering about the socks and the paper fashions and all the exciting stamping I got going on. Well honestly there’s not been much of any of that lately. Probably because I’ve been totally busy in school *eeek*, but mostly because I’ve been working on THIS:

YAY!!!! I’m 6 weeks pregnant! I am so excited and scared and moody! hehehe. What a blessing!

A new sock

K. Remember how I was making these socks for Socktoberfest? Well I got tired of them and got some new sock yarn. I finally got my new size 1 circular needles in the mail to begin making the socks and wouldn’t you know it – there’s only 3 days left in socktoberfest. So I’ve decided to make November Sockemberfest! I know that’s not quite as catchy as Socktoberfest, but HEY I’m making my socks in November. So there you go.

That’s 2 toes on 2 circular needles. I’m using these instructions for the toe and then I’ll probably use Wendy’s Generic Toe-up Pattern for the rest of the sock.
