Ahhhhh…

4 01 2008

I had a spa day today! I used my rad gift card from the in-laws…the head to toe package at Jackson Massage and Day Spa. Let me just give you the itinerary for the day:

  • Relaxing 1 hour full body massage
  • Rejuvenating facial
  • Pretty pedicure and manicure
  • Brow wax (not included in package)
  • Wash, cut and style (not included in the package)

The workers at the spa were all: “Are you comfortable?” “Are you relaxed?” “Can I get you anything?” “It’s all about you today.” (how NICE!) Also, got to listen to beach noises and relaxing music all day long (gladly no new age mumbo jumbo though). They did the massage and facial first and I seriously though I wasn’t going to be able to finish out the rest of the day I was SO freekin’ relaxed (can you really be freekin’ relaxed??? ….anyway). Wanna see the toes?

Sorry if toes gross you out!

On to a card….I’ll post down a little so you can scroll past the toes, but still look at the card in case you’re squeamish (I know feet gross some people out)

That Happy Birthday image is Stampin’ Up! Everything else is non-SU!. I think I’m enjoying stamping again even though I’m not a SU! demo anymore. I can use other products on my projects and not feel like I “need” to be selling only the stuff I’m using. So I’ll probably get lax about posting recipes for cards, but I think people mostly just look at the pics anywayz….Ok so maybe only I do that. Still reading??? Yes? In that case I’ll ramble on a little more.

Knitting: I’m knitting a Booga Bag. I’m a little late on the bandwagon with this project, but it’s so darn cute I don’t care.I’m about halfway completed. No pic…maybe tomorrow. It’s so bright and colorful and easy to knit! Can’t wait to finish.

Employment: Starting my new job at the hospital Monday…no longer a “lady of leisure” as my grandmother put it…yeah right…a nursing student isn’t “leisure” anything. Wish me luck.

Bye for now.

My Baby’s Cooler (and cuter) than Your Baby

31 12 2007

Here’s the proof:

^Balancing a block on his head….BE AMAZED!!!

^Sweet Potatoes (yes he’s wearing 2 bibs people)

^Baby’s First Car aka the Tot Rod (Christmas present from Ma)

^The 2 littlest, cutest (sharpest) teeth evah!

MUSHtache

18 12 2007

and a slight mush-goatee…but gladly no mush-sideburns…this time at least

the mush is peas to be exact.

we’ve also tried and liked green beans, sweet potatoes and bananas.

next week: carrots or pears (we’ll play it by ear) .

Here’s out new afternoon to evening routine:

3-4 get home from daycare and eat a bottle…quick nap

play until 5:15

5:15 eat some baby food

play with toys in highchair or on the floor until bathtime around 6:30.

in bed by 7

Oh – and we have another tooth…which brings our total to 2!

Halloween Happenings

31 10 2007

Here’s how Halloween went down here:

Nathan went to Daycare dressed as an RN.

He’s wearing Thomas scrubs (made by me), a stethescope and a name badge (made in photoshop). Daddy says he’s the cutest male nurse ever!

Wanna Trick or Treat at our house?

A close up of the jack-o-lantern (I totally stole this idea from someone else):

We had several Trick or Treaters at our house. There was several princesses, two dinosaurs, at least two Spidermen (WAY down from last year), only a few “scary” costumes though. I gave out M&Ms, Snickers, Milky Ways and Twix. Some kiddos took more than one piece of candy! And their moms were standing right there….tsk tsk.

Here’s a scrapbook page dedicated to the awesome pic I posted last week:

He’s such a cutie!

Ever Wonder What the Cutest Baby in the World Looks Like?

30 09 2007

I don’t!

2 Month Dr Visit

18 09 2007

We went for the 2 month checkup today. Nathan was in a good mood first off. Here’s why…he had a HUGE poop right before we went into to see the Dr. I just knew he’d save up a whopper for while we were out and about. I had him in a paper diaper so at least we didn’t have to tote around a poopy diaper. Dr. Payne (yes, that’s the ped’s real name haha), said it looks like Nathan is growing just fine and healthy. He didn’t get his shots today cuz we’re going to be participating in a clinical trial for a new vaccine. So, we’ll be going sometime around the end of the week. So of course when I got home Oprah was talking about autism being linked with vaccines. Grrr…I just can’t bring myself to not vaccinate though. Hey, I’ll do BFing, cloth diapers, and no circumcision, but I just can’t risk Nate getting a nasty childhood disease. Besides, even Oprah couldn’t show any scientific evidence to back up a link between autism and vaccines. So, anywho…

Here’s the stats from the appt:

  • Weight: 14 lbs (90th percentile)
  • Length: 25 in (95 percentile)
  • Head: 17 inches?? I can’t remember what the actual # was, but I do remember it was in the 97th percentile.

So he’s still a big baby…good or bad??? Well since ALL those onesies I got at the baby shower are suddenly getting too small, I’ll say bad. On the other hand, he can fit into all his cute cloth diapers – GOOD!!! See:

Also, here’s the first baby smile we caught on camera:

Sorry it’s a little blurry.

Sleepy Baby

16 09 2007

So for the past 2 nights in a row Nathan has slept from about 7:30 pm to around 3:30 am. AND then, he doesn’t wake up again until around 6-7am. WOW! He’s such a good sleeper! I only hope it doesn’t get screwed up somehow! Here’s a pic of my sleeping angel:

He’s in his fleece sleep sack since it’s starting to get a little chilly here at night.

What I’ve learned after 8 weeks

9 09 2007

Nathan is 8 weeks old today. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:

  1. Burp rags are useless – the spit up will usually project past the burp cloth, hitting your neck and then drip down your shirt.
  2. Just when you think you’re a diapering master, you’ll get pee/poop/both pee and poop on you.
  3. The pacifier is your friend!
  4. Just cuz he liked the swing today, doesn’t mean he’ll like it tomorrow.
  5. If the baby is crying while you’re giving him a bath, he’s REALLY upset!

^ Nathan’s famous not-so-happy look (heh heh…understatement)

^ Yes, he’s trying to eat the swing…but he’s wearing an “I love mommy” shirt, so it’s ok.

A new face

31 08 2007

See the faces these kids are making???

Nathan has never seen anyone make this face! BUT somehow he magically knows that sticking out the bottom lip will make him look way more pitiful, thus getting more sympathy and cuddles from mama. We have yet to capture it in a digital image, but I’m sure we will soon, as it’s becoming a daily occurrence around here!

Daycare

27 08 2007

Nate’s first day of daycare was today. He was asleep when I went to pick him up. The teacher said he’d cried most of the day. *insert quivering bottom lip here* The guilt is just overwhelming for me. *serious frowny face goes here* He cried the entire ride home. *add an inadequate parent smiley character here* To make up for it I let him nap in my lap when we got home. (can we say pushover???) He’s just so little!!! On a good note: he got entirely breastmilk today! I pumped enough for him to actually have one extra bag left over! Neat!

So It was my 1st day back to school today. Lecture is mega boring!!!! but you guessed that. I got set up to pump on my breaks from class. I’m pumping in a small closet, lined with filing cabinets, in the back of the nursing office. It’s near the copy room, so every time I hear the Xerox machine, I cringe that someone is going to bust through the door and see me crouched in a rolling chair with a machine attached to my boob while reading Cook’s Illustrated. How embarrassing!!!! (for both parties!)

And just cuz I like a good blog post to contain pictures, here’s the pump I’ve been using

It’s the Medela Swing Single Electric Pump. I give it 5/5 stars!

Blogging about the Boy

23 08 2007

It’s finally settled down enough around here for me to start blogging about the new addition.

First things first – a pic of the little monster:

^Nate in the coolest shirt ever! haha…it’s a gift from Uncle Chris and Aunt Marisel.

Nights are going great. Nathan gets a bath, food, and song right before bed, which is usually around 7:30 – 8. The past few nights he’s been sleeping til about 1. He goes right back to sleep after a feeding, then wakes again around 3-4. Eats and wakes up for the morning around 7. What a good baby…he does still have his moments though.

It’s part of a sock

31 05 2007

I’ve been working on my sock today. I got the heel turned and the decreases done on the instep. Blah blah blah…here it is!

It’s kinda a bad angle from the back. But you can kinda see the instep and heel right??? Just say yes!

Oh here’s another thing I did:

I dyed Nathan’s newborn diapers! They were SO boring…just white…blah! Now they are super cute. I used Dylon dye from Hobby Lobby. The colors are called turquoise and lime. I wish I had left the prefold diapers in the dye a little longer cuz they are lighter than I’d like. BUT the Sandy’s fitteds turned out almost perfect! Can’t wait to put them on my little pooper!

Knitting for Baby

18 05 2007

So I’m combining three of my latest “obsessions” in my latest crafty adventure. I’m knitting (1) a wool diaper (2) cover for the baby (3). Ooooo it’s gonna be so cool. Here’s a progress pic:

Here’s a pic of the yellow bear modeling it, so you can get an idea about how it’s gonna fit on baby:

It’ll have Aplix (hook and loop) on the front panel and back wings…you know the familiar diaper format. So, this project will also let me use my new sewing machine too! Yay, one more crafty addition.

And a close up of the increase rows, just cuz:

This knits up so fast! I am going to get some more wool this weekend and make another one in the next size up. I hope wool works for us!

I’m using the Warm Heart Woolies Free Wrap Style Pattern. Find it here.

Fluffy Mail

14 05 2007

What the heck is fluffy mail you ask???

It’s this:

Eric and I have decided we’re going to try cloth diapering. So, here’s our first 3 diapers to build our cloth diaper stash.  They are Happy Heinys brand. From left to right: helicopter, planets, and cows. We should be getting our cotton prefolds in a few days!!!

Just for fun – here’s the yellow bear modeling the helicopters:

Also, here’s an update on the belly @ 31 weeks pregnant:
