Get your chores on!

20 10 2006

So I’ve been getting organized with flylady as you might remember. I made these schedules you can check off when you complete tasks. Kinda like when you were in Kindergarten and you got a gold star for doing your homework, not talking during class, etc. And when you got 5 gold stars, then you got like extra recess or candy or something from the “treasure chest!” So this is the adult version, only the prize is not quit as cool. Well I guess it could be, if you were in the right mind set. yeah that’s it!

They are Word documents so you should be able to edit to your taste if you have that program.

Still Flying

16 09 2006

I’m still doing the FlyLady thing. I did some Hot Spot management last night as part of my resolution to get to cleaning.

One of the main hot spots in my house the the bill paying area right beside our stove in the kitchen. It’s mostly a catchall for junk mail and E’s little papers (you know receipts and junk from work). I even cleaned out the little letter organizer thingy I got to put all the paid and unpaid bills in. (Hey there’s not even an unpaid bill in there for once…YAY!)

Here’s the before:

  • 2 spray can bottles
  • 1 blue tie
  • my knitted purse
  • a sack with stuff from the S’book store
  • misc. pieces of paper trash
  • my pink maincure bag
  • overflowing bill caddy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the after:
and NO I didn’t just push it over to the counter on the other side of the stove. I actually (ok hold on) PUT THE STUFF AWAY….WHERE IT BELONGS!!!!! Look how organized everything is.
BTW I’m still keeping my sink and bathrooms clean. and I have another (bigger :( ) hotspot to work on tomorrow.
I’ve decided to fly.
31 08 2006
Hello, My name is Jennifer and I have a cleaning aversion. Ewww…I hate to clean – The kitchen dishes, the living room clutter, the bathroom…grossness. I’ve got all the excuses: studying, other things to do, i shouldn’t be the ONLY one cleaning this house! No more. This is my attempt to clean it up.
Have you heard of the FLYlady? She has a plan for cleaning. Babysteps…I like the sound of that. Her first step is to shine your sink (and keep it that way).
Now, I’ve debated on whether or not to actually SHOW the before and after pics here in my public stamping blog. But I figured that someone might find it helpful for them if they also have a cleaning aversion. You’re NOT alone! :) Please be kind to my before picture as I am actually quite proud of my after!
And here it is:
The sink BEFORE shining.
Go ahead, say it. Ewwwww. Here’s what we have: various dishes, gunky soap dispenser, empty Dr. Pepper cans (mind you the trash can is 2 feet away), icky on the sink. Gross! It’s not so bad….right????
Here’s the after:
YAY!!!! It sparkles. Step one was easy and satisfying. Check it out – I got ambitious and washed the window and straightened under the sink too:
Ok, so I’ve got a long way to go. I’m actually pretty relaxed after the scrubbing. It helped take my mind off the crazies of 1st week back at nursing school. I am actually looking forward to day 2. Man, I’m a dork!
